Mochlos is a small typical Greek fishing village on the north side of the island between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. It is a quiet place with white houses, blue shutters, brightly colored bougainvilleas and a small promenade with a few restaurants. It is very cozy and you can feel the Cretan hospitality. There is a small pebble beach, outside the village there are some better beaches.
Across Mochlos is an island that is called Mochlos as well. Here you can find archaeological excavations. You can go there with a small boat, or swim to it yourself. Mochlos is for the ones seeking tranquility. The tourists in Mochlos are mostly Greeks who come to enjoy fresh fish in one of the good restaurants.
From Mochlos it's easy to explore the east side of the island. Consider visiting the Lassithi plateau, the beaches of Vai, Moni Toplou Monastery and many hiking opportunities.
